About the University:
Founded in the early 1900s, Akaki Tsereteli State University is based in Kutaisi city in west Georgia and is known to be one of Georgia’s oldest educational institutions. Yet the University began to provide the course of medicine from 1995, leaving merely 26 years to its vault of academic experience in terms of medicine. One can pursue any level of education here: undergraduate, postgraduate or PhD. The courses incorporated in these levels of education are recognized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. It is a public University so it is largely preferred by international students from different countries except India. Reason here is the lack of Indian embassy in Georgia which leads to many Indians
refraining to study MBBS in Georgia. Currently, the statistics show more than 9,000 students enrolled in 9 faculties. The University is in good accords with other established Universities and research & science centers and many eastern countries which helps it in establishing a global network and thus create a favorable environment for its students. Despite these accomplishments, one thing you’re definitely going to miss out on is a good clinical exposure which is unlikely to occur in the city of Kutaisi with a population as low as 1 Lakh and 70 thousand. On a side note, if having a good clinical exposure during MBBS is something you care for, countries like Russia and Ukraine might be the choice for you on account of their centuries-old Universities, english taught programs, relatively much higher population and likewise more Indian students.

The Akaki Tsereteli State University makes the students’ experience unique by means of organizing various programs and activities throughout their journey of MBBS. The students also have the freedom to voice their opinion to the suitable tier of the University through which a student can bring about change in the interest of the University. There are auditoriums, libraries, laboratories, sport complex, etc. which cater to the overall development of the students.
Hostel accommodation is located inside the University premises. The Akaki Tsereteli State University provides its students with fully furnished hostel rooms. Each of these rooms consists of 2 or 3 beds thus providing accommodation on a sharing basis with other students. The rooms are furnished with basic amenities like beds, pillows, blankets, chairs, study tables, heaters, etc. that a student generally seeks. The procedure of being allotted a room at the hostel begins with the submission of the health report of the student upon their arrival at the University. Once reports are verified, students are allotted rooms in the hostel. The hostels are equipped with Wi-Fi facilities as well. Moreover, there is a kitchen in the hostel for those who prefer to eat food cooked by them only.
