About the University:
The first and only higher educational institution in Dunaújváros, the Technicum of Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering, our predecessor institution, was established in 1953. However, as our University is one of the very few universities safeguarding and fostering the nearly 270 years old student traditions developed at Selmecbánya (and for that UOD is considered as a successor institution of the former Academy of Selmecbánya), our university can be described as a relatively young university having roots that goes back centuries.
Nowadays our university is considered as one of the most dynamically developing higher educational institutions in Hungary. On a national level UOD became the centre of higher education in the surrounding region, and as a result of our internationalization strategy followed over the past years, our institution is proud to have a wide international relations network in Europe and all around the world. Currently we offer 6 bachelor and 2 master programs entirely taught in English, and nearly 10% of the total number of our students are international students arriving from all corners of the world.

ABOUT OUR CAMPUS
Any great institution always thrives upon great infrastructure. The infrastructural development of the University of Dunaújváros is very impressive. The construction of the new university campus at the beginning of the millenium is one of the greatest achievements of the University. It consists of 15 buildings forming a complex of modern classrooms, lecture halls, a public library, professional laboratories, sport and leisure facilities and newly renovated student hostels.
We also have a huge public park in front of our main building with a fountain, a bio-pond and planted areas. UOD has great laboratories, as well, a part of which serves the practical needs of our education, and quite a few of them are devoted to research & development in cooperation with the significant industrial companies of our region.
The University of Dunaújváros understands that one of the hardest tasks for a student in a new country is to find proper accommodation. Therefore we offer a place in the hostel of the university for every first-year international student automatically. We are very proud of being one of those few Hungarian universities who can offer this opportunity for their students.
There are 3 hostel buildings are newly renovated and well equipped.
There are suits on each floor with 2, 2+3 or 3+3 beds and a private bathroom. Internet access is available for every person in the room. On every floor there is a kitchen and a laundry equipped with washing-machines and other equipment.
Community rooms are also available in the buildings where students can study or relax together.
